Sit back and think.....think about the last time you felt really good about yourself. What were you wearing? Was your outfit a new suit, maybe a form fitting dress or perhaps a pair of "hot" pants that made your butt look really good? Now think about the last time you went out in public and you did whatever it was you had to do as fast as you could in hopes that you wouldn't see anyone you knew. What were you wearing then? A pair of your "fat" jeans, an old tee-shirt, oh I know, it was the pair of overalls that you only wear when doing housework. Its funny how clothes make us feel and how certain clothes contort our whole personality. Where do you think this mindset comes from? It could be the TV, we see all these beautiful men and women and think we have to look like those aliens all the time. It could possibly be the floods of magazines that have the hottest heartthrob on the front. I tell ya', there is nothing like having a grocery cart full of food pulling up to the check out counter and begin to drown in the amount of model covered magazines. It makes you want to put every Debbie Cake back on the shelf. Perhaps we have confidence disorder because we compare ourselves to each other, or could I go as far to say that we actually dress for each other? Whenever I get ready to go somewhere, one thought always crosses my mind, "I want to dress to impress!"
There is no way around it and no way to stop it. We will always be judged by what we wear, so we should dress to impress ourselves. And if for some reason you have to go out in public in what you think is a horrendous outfit, work those clothes with confidence. Don't let the clothes control you.
